DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN

These designations were created within the European Union to protect certain food and agricultural products of typical of a specific region.

In the European Union, around 80% of the products protected by these categories come from Mediterranean countries. However, some non-European countries in the Mediterranean are starting to incorporate these designations.
