According to a European Union study, amongst all data on fishing exploitation; Italian traditional fishing presents the highest profitability (the profit was at 37% of the invested capital). The investment per worker, in a trawler fishing at the Greek coast, was 6 times higher and had negative profitability (-4 '7%), which means that the investment was not recovered. On the contrary, Spanish and French trawlers did recover original investments.
