First joint workshop of UNEP, FAO and the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions in Barcelona

A joint workshop with regional centres and offices under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions and UNEP regional Offices will be held from 27th September until 1st October in Barcelona. The CP/RAC hosts this event after having signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention for the joint organization of the workshop. Near 60 people will attend this event that will gather for the first time the Conventions centres and UNEP and FAO offices.

CP/RAC launches the “Green Shots Award”, an international contest for the generation of new ideas on sustainable consumption

In order to stimulate a broader dialogue on the issue of sustainable lifestyles, CP/RAC has launched a contest for the creation of green short stories. The ten best stories will be turned into animated videos and worldwide distributed, while the author of the best proposal will be awarded with a trip to the next Earth Summit Rio+20 in 2012.


Today CP/RAC (Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production) launches the Green Shots Award, a new initiative to stimulate the creation and promotion of bottom-up innovative ideas on sustainable consumption in the Mediterranean Region. The Green Shots Award is open to everyone.

Barcelona hosts a workshop on New POPs and NIPs

 The Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention and the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production organized jointly the “Stockholm Convention Regional Capacity Building Workshop on New POPs and the Process of Reviewing and Updating NIPs in the Mediterranean (outside CEE) and French-speaking African regions”.

Success in Malta with the Workshop “Integrating Education for Sustainable Consumption and Production in existing university curricula”

The 22nd and 23rd of October was held in Malta the Workshop “Integrating Education for Sustainable Consumption and Production in existing university curricula”, organized by the CP/RAC with the collaboration of the University of Malta and the Cleaner Technology Centre from Malta. More than 25 university teachers participated in the event that had the purpose to enable them to include in their classes concepts such as Sustainable Consumption and Production and Sound Chemical Management.
