A working meeting to closure the first phase on the development of the National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention in Israel was held on 1st and 2nd of August in Tel Aviv (Israel). The meeting was convened at the offices of the Ministry of Environment in Tel Aviv, and attended by representatives from the Ministry and its team of consultants. Also in attendance were the director and other members from the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production.
From 27th to 29th June 2012, the CP/RAC organized a hands-on workshop within “Green Entrepreneurship & Eco-Design Training Programme” in the facilities of the American University on Beirut. The objectives of the workshop were to inform, prepare and empower senior or master degree students from Beirut on the art of green entrepreneurship through a variety of tools and applied technical methodologies from the Green economy initiative.
The CPRAC, in collaboration with the Algerian National Technology Centre for Cleaner Production (Centre National des Technologies de Production plus Propre -CNTPP) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) organized the seminar “Controlling newly listed Stockholm Convention POPs” from 27th to 28th June 2012 in the Safir Mazafran Hotel in Algiers. This activity was financed through the Small Grant Project Proposal from the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention in response to the proposal submitted by the CPRAC for the organization of a training on Import/export of POPs in Algeria.
CP/RAC the event "Challenges and Opportunities for a Mediterranean Green Growth”, held on the framework of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event, which took place on 19 June was co-organized by MIO-ESCDE, UNEP/MAP, the European Commission, the Union for the Mediterranean, Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, the Arab Network for Environment and Development, GWP-Med, among others.
On June 19th, the CP/RAC gave a course on Sustainable Events to event organization and logistics staff from the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean. This activity reinforces the bridges of cooperation between the two institutions.
