Light bulbs

  • TO BEGIN
  • LIGHT: WHICH, HOW MUCH
  • SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY
  • WHICH LIGHT BULB?
  • AT HOME

Electricity consumption is ever increasing and most part of electricity is generated by sources having the worst environmental impact: nuclear, fossil combustion and big hydroelectric power plants (we can find data regarding Mediterranean here). Since the resources of the planet are finite, the optimum strategy to provide ourselves with energy should have two main axes: on the one hand, searching how to carry out our activities using as little electricity (and energy in general) as possible.

How can we do it
  • Let us get used to ask ourselves whether we can meet daily needs doing without or reducing the use of electricity or other sources of energy. Some electrical appliances, the lift (let us remember stairs), heating (let us remember pullovers), and transportation (let us remember our legs and bikes)....
  • At town level, let us evaluate whether street lighting is adequate or excessive.

And on the other hand, we have to promote renewable energy wherever possible.

How can we do it

  • At home and at work, let us promote the installation of solar thermal panels to heat the water for buildings. It is inexpensive, technically simple and very effective.
  • Let us promote, whenever possible, the building of wind farms if there are suitable locations to install them.
  • Let us promote also the installation of photovoltaic solar panels at the roofs industrial facilities and other surfaces that are not liable to have a better use.

Keep this in mind!
Let's make the most of sunlight, it's the healthiest.

To enjoy a good visual and general health, the quantity of the light is as important as its colour.

Let us use low-consumption light bulbs, except in places where the bulb will not be burning for long, or where it will be turned off immediately, or if we need to see colours much more accurately.
