ECOMEDA Green Forum

The CP/RAC and ASCAME, with collaboration from the Fundació Fòrum Ambiental, are organising the 4th edition of the Ecomeda Forum. The objective of the gathering is the symbiosis of business interests with respect for the environment.

On 25 and 26 November, the 4th edition of the Ecomeda Forum, which incorporates the word ‘Green’ in its title, will take place in Barcelona. It is the first time that the CP/RAC collaborates in this initiative that has been promoted by the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) in prior editions.

Ecomeda Green Forum 2010 will bring together companies, representatives from ministries and institutions and economic and environmental experts from across the Mediterranean. Aimed at these interest groups, the most current topics, like the use and potential of renewable energies, green products and ecolabelling and waste minimisation will be dealt with. In particular, the issue of water as a scarce resource in the Mediterranean will receive very special treatment.

These points will be discussed through presentations and working groups taking place in the morning, since the afternoons will be reserved for contact between companies in a space set up with a trade-fair system.

The CP/RAC will contribute to the gathering with its cumulative experience in preventing pollution and sustainable consumption and production, giving special prominence to its GRECO Initiative. The GRECO Initiative (Green Competitiveness) is aimed at Mediterranean companies, to show them that being respectful of the environment can, in many cases, represent substantial economic benefits.

About ASCAME

ASCAME is an organisation backed by five hundred chambers of commerce and other associated institutions from twenty-two countries in the Mediterranean region. This high number of chambers of commerce, as well as other associated member organisations of ASCAME, makes the association the institution with the greatest geographical scope among all such organisations in the Mediterranean community.
The association is extremely important in the field of international cooperation between the Mediterranean chambers of commerce, and its role has been acknowledged by the most prominent European and international institutions.
