SCP/RAC new call for proposals in Egypt

SCP/RAC calls for proposals for a business support organization (BSO) to organize two national challenges addressing initiatives in business and social innovation that contribute to the prevention and reduction of single-use plastic bags in Egypt.

This consultancy is aiming at supporting the implementation in Egypt of the Small Scale Funding Agreement (SSFA) signed between UN Environment/Global Programme of Action (UNEP/GPA) and SCP/RAC, an agreement to cooperate on activities related to marine litter prevention in Egypt. The project is entitled ‘Protecting the marine environment from land-based pollution through strengthened coordination of global action’. 

SCP/RAC is conducting a series of activities including the management of 2 challenges aimed at finding and fostering use affordable and convenient alternatives to single-use plastic bags while providing economic impact to disadvantaged groups as well as promoting their daily, long-term use. The first challenge will be focussed on business innovation, green entrepreneurship can offer solutions to single-use plastic bags and promote business innovation in Egypt. The second will be focussed on social innovation, aimed at improving consumer behavior and meeting social needs in a better way than the existing solutions.

The call is addressed to business support organizations or consultants who can provide incubation services in the project area, adapted to the above-mentioned topic. Through this call, SCP/RAC is seeking to boost promising ideas and businesses to develop further and thus contributing to reducing plastic pollution and marine litter.
