CP/RAC organized the H2020 training "Developing a Green Economy in Jordan: focus on resource and energy efficiency"

7 Mayo 2013 | Actualizado: 9 Mayo 2013

In the framework of the H2020 project, it was organized in Amman, the training "Developing a green economy in Jordan: focus on resource and energy efficiency," from 28th to 30th April 2013. The activity aimed to raise awareness among all decision makers, government officials, entrepreneurs, banks and industry of the country on the unique opportunities related to a greener economy.

The activity, organized by CP/RAC with the support of the Ministry of Environment of Jordan and the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), was particularly focused on resource efficiency and sustainable energy production and consumption. Over the three days, the course gathered 60 participants, including representatives of various ministries, companies and NGOs from Jordan with high level experts from international agencies, national authorities, environmental NGOs, service companies and sustainability experts.

This is now clear that energy efficiency, waste collection, green construction or water management are essential tools to reduce environmental degradation, create new jobs, increase the economic competitiveness and, in general, improve the quality of life.

During the sessions, Roger Garcia, Deputy Director of CP/RAC, presented the BAT4MED project that aims to analyze whether the introduction of the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) concept can contribute to minimize the negative impacts associated with industries from key industrial sectors.

All participants showed their personal and professional commitment to contribute to develop and implement a green economy in Jordan in the coming years within various development sectors (industry, hospitality and construction).
