Sustainable Events

UNEP defines a sustainable event as one designed, organized and implemented in a way that minimizes negative environmental impacts and leaves a positive legacy for the host community. The Regional Activity Center for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) is leading a project with the aim of greening Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) events because this organization and its components are responsible for a lot of meetings every year that have a negative environmental impact.

For that reason, CP/RAC is organizing different workshops and capacity buildings around the Mediterranean in order to foster the inclusion of sustainability in the organization of events.

On the other hand, in collaboration with the non-governmental organization MIO-ESCDE, the Center is developing a Sustainable Events Toolkit, an interactive tool with useful information aimed at events organizers from all around the Mediterranean. The Center is also organizing workshops for promoting the toolkit, in order to show all its components (checklist, good practices, sustainable suppliers, guidelines, references, etc.) and explain how to use it.
