The Regional Activity Center for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) is organizing a workshop on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) that will be held in University of Malta on 6th December 2011.

The objective of the workshop is to give students and young people in general basic information about some toxic chemicals that are present in our day life. Participants will be shown where these chemicals are, how they can affect our health and environment and with which solutions we count in order to minimize their presence in our environment.

A joint workshop with regional centres/offices under the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions and UNEP regional Offices will be organized from 27th September until 1st October.

The CP/RAC has signed a MoU with the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention for the joint organization of the workshop which will be held in the premises of the centre.

The CP/RAC participated in the 2nd Workshop for Stockholm Convention Regional and subregional Centres.

The meeting was organized by the Secretariat of the Convention and it was held in Geneva during 28 September 2nd October 2009. Representatives from all the centres were present at the meeting and there were two different modules:

- A general module dealing with the following uo of the COP decissions on the technical assistance and capacity buiding.

Last 1st October 2009, the CP/RAC organized in Tunis (Tunisia) a REACH regulation seminar in order to inform about the European legislation to companies and institutions of the country. This was the first out of three seminars held by CP/RAC in Mediterranean countries during 2009.

The seminar was organized by the CP/RAC with the collaboration of the CITET and a total of 250 participants from different sectors attended to the event.
