On 15th June the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) of UNEP/MAP organized a workshop on cleaner production and industrial competitiveness held in Algeria.
The event focused on the ways for implementing cleaner production on the most relevant industrial sectors in the country, which are cement, food and surface treatment. Spanish companies invited explained their experiences in adapting their manufacturing processes to cleaner production. The workshop put emphasis on the advantages that cleaner production supposed to the competitiveness of these industries.
From the 1st to the 3rd of June took place in Budva (Montenegro) a regional workshop within the framework of the Horizon 2020 capacity building programme. The seminar was focused in the shift toward Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP).
Strengthening National Strategies for Sustainable Development (NSSD) in the Mediterranean is necessary to accelerate progress towards a green economy, according to UNEP and the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development (MCSD), which met last week from 30 May to 1 June in Budva (Montenegro).
The 16th and 17th of June it will be held in Almeria (Spain) the first Workshop on Dissemination of Best Practices in Fishing. The activity, which is integrated in the CAMP Levante project, will be held around Cabo de Gata and is coordinated by the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC).
The European edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit will take place in Amsterdam on 23-24th June 2011. The event hones in on two major aspects of sustainability in the food industry: carbon footprint reduction and the use of sustainable ingredients.
