Taking advantage of the celebration of the last Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols held in Istanbul (Turkey) from 3rd to 6th December 2013, CP/RAC, PAP/RAC, Blue Plan and the Mediterranean Initiative of the Global Footprint Network organized the side event “Together towards Green Economy in the Mediterranean Coastal and Marine Areas” on 5th December.
The last Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean that was held in Istanbul from 3rd to 6th December decided to update the name of the Regional Activity Center for Cleaner Production according to the mandate that the countries assigned to the center in 2009 to promote Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). Accordingly, the center has now been renamed as Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production.
From 3rd to 6th December 2013 took place in Istanbul (Turkey) the 18th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols. The Contracting Parties hold Ministerial level meetings every two years in order to review the progress achieved during the last biennium and to agree on strategies, budget and programme of work of the following two years.
Within the EC funded H2020 CB/MEP, CP/RAC organized from 13th to 15th November in Barcelona a regional training on Sustainable Food Production with 40 participants from 10 southern Mediterranean countries.
In the framework of the 7th Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders, the seminar on “University and Enterprise cooperation” focusing on the synergies between enterprising and education forces in the EU and Southern Mediterranean countries took place in the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce (Barcelona, Spain) on Wednesday 20th November.
